The Spring Tree Corporation was founded in 1976 by three Vermont entrepreneurs
operating from a small converted dairy in Brattleboro, Vt. They named
their company and their product "Spring Tree®" capturing
the tradition to tap maple trees and make maple syrup when the warmer
sunny days of spring arrive.
From the start their aim was to deliver the very best value to consumers.
In Quebec (where 90% of pure maple syrup comes from) they bought from
those areas of the Province where soil and weather produced year after
year the most flavorful syrup, and from the most efficient maple syrup
farmers.
They custom-designed a bottle whose sparkling clear fluted glass highlights
the rich amber shade of pure maple syrup, and then designed an award-winning
label that sets Spring Tree apart from all other pure maple syrup brands.
Spring Tree's superior quality and price made it the fastest growing
brand of pure maple syrup in the 80's. By 1993 Spring Tree had become
the best selling brand of pure maple syrup in the U.S. and indeed the
world. You could find Spring Tree in supermarkets, club stores and natural
food stores around the world from New York to San Francisco to Tokyo
to Istanbul to Berlin and London.
In 1997, Spring Tree introduced Spring Tree® Sugar Free Syrup to
offer a flavorful alternative to diet conscious Americans. It quickly
became the fastest growing product on the syrup shelf.
In 1999, the Spring Tree owners sold their business to Specialty Brands
of America. Since then, SBA has expanded the availability of Spring
Tree® Pure Maple Syrup widening its leadership position to over
one third of all worldwide pure maple syrup sales and making Spring
Tree® Sugar Free syrup the second leading brand.
